Call for Symposia for KSBNS 2024

The Korean Society for Brain and Neural Sciences (KSBNS) invites you to submit proposals for a symposium for the KSBNS 27th annual meeting in conjunction with Asian Pacific Society for Neurochemistry (APSN), which will be held from October 15 to 18, 2024, in Gyeongju, one of the ancient capitals of South Korea. 

We are looking to select high-quality symposia from all over the world. If you would like to organize a symposium, please complete this  Symposium Proposal Form and submit it by January 31, 2024. The KSBNS Scientific Program Committee will review the symposium proposals after the submission deadline. Acceptance will be notified via email around late March, 2024. For further inquiries, please contact neuro@ksbns.org.

Please refer to the guidelines for proposals below:

1. Symposium organization

ﾧ Each symposium should last 90-100 minutes, with 3-4 speakers presenting and discussing a coherent topic in neuroscience that should be of interest to a broad audience.

ﾧ Each symposium should have 1 chairperson to moderate the session and lead discussion. Although one of the speakers can be designated as the chairperson if needed, we recommend a separate chairperson to maximize discussion.

ﾧ Speakers and the chair must be included only upon their consent.

ﾧ All speakers must be present offline at the venue (HICO, Gyeongju) and no online participation will be allowed.

ﾧ English must be used as the official language.

ﾧ Each principal organizer can organize no more than one symposium.

ﾧ Each principal organizer must be a member of KSBNS for his/her proposal to be accepted.

2. Selection criteria

ﾧ The highest priority will be given to the symposium proposals that include a diverse group of participants (e.g., gender, race, and country of origin). Proposing a symposium composed of researchers from the same institution is highly discouraged and may be rejected by the KSBNS Scientific Program Committee.

ﾧ The KSBNS Scientific Program Committee will give priority to the proposals of broader and outstanding interest to a general audience.

ﾧ The KSBNS Scientific Program Committee will give priority to the proposals that do not overlap with symposia themes from the prior annual meetings of KSBNS (See  LINK).

ﾧ Symposium proposals composed of researchers with a wide range of methodologies and perspectives on a common theme are preferred. Proposing a symposium that may include thematically unrelated speakers is highly discouraged and may be rejected by the KSBNS Scientific Program Committee.

ﾧ The KSBNS Scientific Program Committee will review the proposal and may request a revision if necessary.

3. Financial support

ﾧ Once selected, financial support in the amount of up to 2,000,000 KRW will be provided to each symposium depending on the diversity of the proposal.

ﾧ The participating speakers and chairs of selected symposia will have their registration fees waived.

ﾧ Additional expenses (e.g., travel, accommodation, and other expenses) should be covered by the symposium participants and organizers themselves.
